<comment>I have eaten at augustines several times in the past and always been impressed, last evening was no exception.I and two others opted yet again for the "tasting menu"comprising of six, though it seemed like more, courses.
I have had this menu before and was again amazed at the attention to detail and mix of flavours, the service married up seemlessly to each course and we had some very well priced and lovely wines selected for us by the restaurant manager. The room was nice and busy and the addition of some new plants and soft music made the room more in keeping with what i remember of the old location furter down town.
Im a big fan and am delighted that such a standard of restaurant is still in Cork, well done all at augustines, for me they tick all the boxes. </comment>

<comment>A short notice booking didn't surprise fora tuesday evening, the hubby didn't know what to expect but was so happy. The tasting menu is a real delight, 6 courses for €25. This hasn't changed much since it began at the original Augustines a year ago. The gaspacho of red pepper and tomato is delicious. I probably ate too much of the fab black olive bread but it was was os delicious. The sea bass was fantastic, crispy and served with beautifully fresh beans and pea shoots, the polenta was fine, if there was a tiny bit more fish you wouldn't need the starch accompaniment. The mushroom soup/sauce was a little too salty and served with a parmeasean crisp? The cappuchino/foam on top was milk! but this was lovely.Next followecd pigeon, OMG, it was beautifulrare and juicy, crispy on the outside and served with a fab sausage, light and so flavourful. The fondant potato was divine and the mash holding everthing was gorgeous.A fabulous chees course followed, and the only disappointment was the amount of salad and lack of cheese. The fig chutney was delicious and it was so well suited to the little crisp/chips that were on the plate. The desert plate was the only disappointment of the evening, and this dissapointment is the incorrect word as really it's only a matter of taste! The plate was three little beignets filled with tart apple sauce but rolled in caster sugar, the beautifule fresh grannysmith slices poached lightly, this freshness was muddied by an apple moouse, the wierdest thing i thing i've tried, not unpleasant but not nice either. The wines on offer were reasonably priced from €5 to €7 a glass, good value. The atmosphere is strange, you look out the door and feel you're in a european hotel, inside seems small and comfortable i just can't make my mind up. This is wonderful place for a meal, the tasting menu is just a nice guide the a la carte looks fantastic. I coudn't have enjoyed myself more.

<comment>have eaten here a number of times in past few months, once with a large party so have tried nearly all items on the menu. Food and presentation are fantastic, this restaurant should be in the fine dining section. lots of nice extras from chef, amus bouche, pre dessert etc. Chef came to tables after service which was nice touch. Ala carte menu has good variety, fillet steak and venison are top recommendations, good wine list.
only critisim is menu doesn't seem to change tooo often. I was here 3 times withing 4 months and same menu each time( although always excellent , lacked surprise) </comment>

<comment>I visited Augustine's with my boyfriend and another couple and we were very pleasantly surprised. Having visited once before in it's previous location, we did not expect the very high standard of food and service we received. The food was fantastic and could none of us could fault it. The waiting staff were professional and attentive. I liked the layout of tables - we were seated at a semi-private, circular booth - so the atmosphere can be intimate. I would definitely go back for a special occasion.</comment>

<comment>This is a really lovely restaurant that I enjoy coming to. On the night there were 2 of us for dinner. One of us was vegetarian which was indicated when the booking was made and it was great to see a choice being available for him. The whole experience was very enjoyable with lovely food and great service. I recommend the chocolate fondant. </comment>

<comment>Great value for so many courses in the tasting menu. However I felt that the food was slightly unimaginative. I was trying the tasting menu to decide whether or not to use Augustines for a private function but I was a but disappointed. Desert consisted of 3 bites but all contained lemon. And sides with main dishes were unusual. Nice restaurant for a romantic night out but certainly wont suit everyone. </comment>

<comment>Ate here for our anniversary recently, had the Tasting menu. Fantastic food and great service, every course was spectacular and explained in detail. The pace was busy even though early in the week. A great way to check out some unusual dishes without breaking the bank.
Will definitely be back</comment>

<comment>Eat here on saturday night on a trip down to cork for an occasion. With complements of menupages I had a voucher for a free bottle of house wine which was great. Absolutely amazing food, could not fault it, from the extra nibbles sent out compliments of the chef to the menu. I had the quail salad to start and my boyfriend had the beef carpacio, both amazing, then I had the fish casserole, which was gorgeous, so much fish and he had the special cod, also very good, to finish we shared the chocolate fondant and creme brulee, yum! My only quipe is the atmoshere of the place which I dont think is the best, I often find this in hotel settings, Maybe some light music in the background would improve this. Cost is expensive enough but worth it for the gorgeous food,</comment>

<comment>Went for Valentine's dinner on the Saturday of that weekend. It was really really nice.
We had a 6.30 reservation so it wasn't busy, the service was excellent, the staff were very attentive.
The food was great. Sea bass & citrus salad it lovely, sounds strange but it really went well together.
I got duck for the main course. It was really nicely cooked. There was a lot of cabbage, it would have been nicer to have a smaller portion or a mix of veg.
Dessert was lovely, chocolate fondant and the hazelnut ice-cream was really really nice too.
